Kennywood Amusement Park

Today was special because we visited the Kennywood Park - a place of amusement for hundreds if not thousands of Americans daily, especially on weekends.

The park contained a standard set of entertainment pieces:
  • Eating out -- chicken, potatoes, hot-dogs, grill, ice cream, cafes. Quite authentic.
  • Fountains of different shapes and sizes.
  • Plenty of rides. Most of them are roller coasters, but also those that drop you from height and twist around.
  • Evening laser show.
  • A lot of fellows with weight issues and noisy children.
All of these were fantastic except the last one maybe.
We succeeded in riding the most crazy (except 100 m high bungee) places.

First, a coaster Phantom's Revenge that concentrates on rapidly changing heights at high speed. This one is famous for a relatively long period - 120 sec. One of the fastest in the world according to them.

Those guys are about to start their mind-blowing ride.
One of roller coaster curves.

Second, we took up the Pit Fall. This stuff lifts you up to about 100 m and then gives you 80 m of accelerated falling. Seemed a piece of cake at first, but, in fact, you get born again after it. Because it feels like you're dying while falling, as one woman said there.

Pit Fall, a bit later.
Finally, we concluded our evening with the SwingShot ride. It basically consists of two steel beams with seats attached on both sides. It swings poor people forward and backward without going a full turn. Still, it's scary since you don't get any vertical "defence" -- only your legs are fixed.
SwingShot about to start.

Overall, Kennywood is worth visiting at least once a season, and it takes a whole day to enjoy it fully.
