Terrible Russian Passports

It's ridiculous to what extent people vested with power can be negligent to problems they should be, in fact, solving.

Let's consider a small example: a Russian passport (the one used for foreign travel). What should it basically do? It should identify a person (through a number of properties like name, birth date, etc.) to the officials in (at least developed) countries. This identification should desirably be secure and unambiguous. Yet what do they do at Russian Federal Migration Service (the agency issuing those passports)?

Hopefully I haven't disclosed too much about myself here.

Two issues here:

A. The passport deisingers are oblivious that there are some millions of people who think that dates can also be put like MM/DD/YYYY, as opposed to DD/MM/YYYY. Is it too difficult to specify what formal you are using or switch to a notation like 2 Sep 2011?

B. They overlook very basic things about what all those labels mean. Name (rus) != Given names. Citizenship (rus) != Nationality. In the place of birth section, they claim that Moscow (rus) translates to USSR.

There has already been a case when I appeared as another Ivan Ruchkin with a birth date of September 6. And there's more to come, once I forget to warn the readers that dates are "in the European format".
